Getting started with RingUps

3 questions

What is RingUps?
RingUps is a retail operating system for bridal boutiques, covering appointments, the gown catalogue, special orders, deposits and payments, alterations, client email and reporting in one system. RingUps was built by the two owners of Cande Bridal Boutique in Kelowna, British Columbia, after the software the store was paying for kept failing it. RingUps runs in a web browser and is sold as a monthly subscription at one flat rate, with every feature included.
Which boutiques is RingUps built for?
RingUps is built for independent bridal boutiques and small multi-location bridal groups: stores that sell special-order gowns against a wedding date, take deposits months before delivery, and run alterations. RingUps is not a general retail point of sale, and a store without those three problems will not get much out of RingUps. Cande Bridal Boutique in Kelowna, British Columbia is the first production store on RingUps, and one of the two RingUps founders owns that store, which is disclosed on every page that uses its figures.
What does a boutique need to run RingUps, and how long does a team take to learn it?
RingUps runs in a web browser on the computers and tablets a boutique already owns, with no app to install and no separate mobile subscription. Training at Cande Bridal Boutique ran to one afternoon for the sales floor and a second session for the staff who handle orders and the workroom. RingUps also includes a training portal inside the product, so a new consultant works through the material rather than shadowing someone for a week.

Moving your data across to RingUps

3 questions

Ask an owner to reconcile their current system against itself.

The question the migration work kept answering
What moves across when a boutique migrates to RingUps?
The migration of Cande Bridal Boutique off Bridal Web Solutions moved 2,902 bride records, 3,820 appointments, 1,391 historical orders totalling $2,275,597.72, and 2,341 payments totalling $2,161,190.44 net of 43 refunds. The same migration moved 625 gown styles, 500 per-unit floor inventory records and 23 suppliers across 49 divisions, with 624 of the 625 products matched. RingUps also pulled 427 gown photographs off the previous vendor's servers and rehosted them, and the styles with no photograph did not have one in Bridal Web Solutions either.
Can a RingUps import be undone if the numbers look wrong?
Yes. Every imported row in RingUps is idempotent on its source reference and reversible by batch id, so an import is rolled back in one click rather than unpicked by hand.
What did RingUps find when it reconciled Cande Bridal Boutique's old data?
Bridal Web Solutions disagreed with itself. On order 872, the Bridal Web Solutions sales-tax export, its payments export and its own line data gave three different answers, and its Category Defaults screen said 655 units in stock while its own inventory export said 506. RingUps also found 93 wrong-signed reversal lines across 59 orders worth $141,807.75, roughly 78% of an apparent $384,659.89 receivable that turned out to be an artefact. RingUps skipped 228 orders rather than invent a bride to attach them to, and told the owner not to chase the receivable.

Special orders and deadlines

2 questions

How does RingUps decide when a special-order gown has to arrive?
RingUps computes a must-arrive-by date backwards from the bride's wedding date rather than forward from the order date. Supplier lead times are held per designer in RingUps and feed that calculation. The special-orders screen in RingUps sorts and flags on the computed date, so a gown at risk surfaces on the screen before the bride telephones about it.
Does RingUps stop a gown being ordered in the wrong dye lot?
Yes. The dye-lot guard in RingUps is enforced at the write path: a purchase order placement that would mix dye lots is blocked rather than merely flagged, and a staff member has to tick an override to continue.
04

Deposits and payments

1 question

How does RingUps treat a deposit?
RingUps treats a deposit as deferred revenue rather than as income on the day it is taken. Every payment posts to an append-only double-entry ledger in RingUps, and the revenue is recognized at delivery, not at the moment the money arrives.
05

Appointments

1 question

Can brides book their own appointments online?
Yes. RingUps includes public self-service booking, and a full end-to-end booking has run on it: 12 slots offered, the booking confirmed, the row verified in the database afterwards. The booking page shows the store's own appointment types and opening hours.
06

Alterations

1 question

Does RingUps include an alterations workroom?
Yes. RingUps has a single alterations workroom screen holding the jobs, the fittings and the per-item work. That is a structural difference rather than a feature count: in Bridal Web Solutions the same work is scattered across appointments, per-supplier charge records and four separate reports, with no workroom screen at all.
07

Communications

2 questions

What does RingUps actually send to brides?
RingUps sends email, and the pipeline is live and proven in production, with 100 messages delivered, real provider message ids against each one, and the most recent sent on 4 August 2026. RingUps ships 12 customer email templates covering the moments a boutique writes to a bride, plus staff training and bulk campaign templates alongside them. Every one of those emails is composed from the store's own records and goes out under the store's own name.
Can RingUps explain why a particular bride never received a message?
Yes, and this is the part no other bridal system is documented as answering. RingUps keeps a suppression log with a plain-English reason against every held message, so the question of why a bride never received the review request has an answer on screen. The log names the reason the message was held rather than leaving a gap in the bride's timeline.
08

Reporting

1 question

What reporting does RingUps include?
RingUps includes 28 standalone report pages plus a reporting hub, and 30 export keys for taking the underlying data out, so a boutique can pull real numbers rather than rely on memory or a spreadsheet nobody trusts.
09

Your team

2 questions

Does RingUps charge per user?
No. RingUps includes unlimited staff logins in its one flat price, so a boutique adds a seasonal consultant without adding to the RingUps bill. Charging per seat pushes a store into sharing one login, and a shared login destroys the audit trail that makes the rest of the system worth having.
Can RingUps limit what each staff member sees?
Yes. RingUps has role-based access, so a seamstress account can work the alterations queue without reading the store's margins, and changes to prices, payments and contracts are written to an audit trail. A manager invites a new staff member by copying a link out of RingUps and sending it directly.
10

Pricing and contract

3 questions

What does RingUps cost?
RingUps is a single flat rate: $99 a month, CAD for a Canadian store or USD for a US store, with every feature included for every store and no tier to upgrade into. Annual billing is $990 a year, ten months' price for twelve. A second location is priced individually rather than at a fixed extra rate; ask, and RingUps brings your next location online with you personally. Assisted migration onto RingUps is quoted per store depending on how much history is moving, and is free for founding stores.
Are there add-ons that raise the RingUps bill later?
No. There is no client-portal upgrade, no reporting tier, no API fee and no penalty for keeping your own payment processor, and the price on the plan is the price of the subscription. RingUps publishes its prices precisely so that a boutique can budget without booking a sales call first.
What is the RingUps contract term, and what happens to the data if a store leaves?
RingUps is month to month, or an annual plan at a discount, with no multi-year lock-in and no exit fee either way. A store leaving RingUps exports its brides, orders, payments, alterations and appointments in full. Founding stores receive assisted migration at no cost, their price held for three years, and direct access to both RingUps founders, in exchange for honest feedback about what is missing.

Security and your data

2 questions

Who owns the data in RingUps?
The boutique does. A RingUps customer exports brides, orders, payments, alterations and appointments in full, self-serve, without opening a support ticket first. Being trapped inside software the founders wanted to leave is the reason RingUps exists, so making it cheap to leave RingUps is a deliberate design decision rather than a concession.
Is bride data in RingUps ever handed to an outside company?
No. The brides, orders and notes held in a RingUps account are not given to a third party to learn from. Where RingUps drafts text for a staff member, the draft is generated from that store's own records, and a named staff member edits it and sends it under their own name. The drafting features in RingUps require an AI key provisioned per store, so a boutique that wants none of it can have none of it.
